Give a Green Financial Gift - Giving a financial gift to an environmental group can save tax dollars. By donating to IRS-approved charities you can deduct these amount(s) when you itemize.
Green Water Heater - A solar water heater that is installed in 2009 can give you a tax credit of 30% of the cost of the solar water heater up to $2,000
Green Home Improvements - Yes energy-efficient home improvements like heating and air conditioning systems, windows, roofs, doors, insulation and non-solar water heaters are eligible for tax credits on improvements made during 2009 up to $500 total per homeowner.
Solar Photovoltaic - By installing a solar photovoltaic energy system in your home in 2009, which uses solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity, your tax credit will be 30% of the cost. Get more info on installing here.
Small Wind Energy Systems - By installing a small wind energy system you can earn a tax credit of 30% of the cost up to $500 per half kW of capacity, with a limit of $4,000. More info on installing a small wind energy system here.
Plug-in Electric Vehicles - Effective January 1, 2009, you can earn a $2,500 to $7,000 tax credit by purchasing a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. There are also other tax credits for other hybrid vehicles depending on the model and manufacturer.
